In this highly mediated world, no one can ignore the importance of media.
So is the case of media education. The present day media landscape is
demanding highly qualified manpower. Madan Bhandari Memorial College
is launching Masters Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication under
TU aiming at facilitating the media landscape by creating a favorable
academic environment in the field of media education. We do believe
that this environment will facilitate to produce academically and professionally
sound manpower which Nepal media landscape is eyeing for.
Message from the Campus Chief
I am very much pleased for having an opportunity to announce that Madan
Bhandari Memorial College is going to run Masters Degree in Journalism
and Mass Communication, and English from this year onwards. We have
already been running Masters Degree in Sociology / Anthropology.
In this competitive age, quality education keeps a great value. Well
educated young generation with life skills and moral values can shoulder
responsibilities of nation building. Keeping this point in mind, this
college is going to run Masters Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication
which has become one of the prolific subjects among the youths of young
generation. Our experiences in Journalism and Mass Communication education
are inspiring enough to go ahead. I am proud to share that the products
of MBM College have been demonstrating a high level of quality and strengths
in the field of media research and media practice. In this regard, we
have plenty of instances to offer. Our well experienced and qualified
faculties have been working hard to make a difference in the media education.
Their efforts will be supported by visiting faculties and experts as
well as seminars and research-oriented activities.
We want to keep our morale and inspiration up by providing students
with quality education and moral values. I do hope we will get supports
from you all to make the Masters Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication

Admission Criteria
A student holding Bachelors Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication
recognized by the Trubhuvan University is considered eligible for admission.
An applicant seeking admission in Journalism and Mass Communication
should appear in the Entrance Exam and secure minimum qualifying marks.
Message from the Coordinator
It is my great pleasure to be able to express my heart-felt congratulations
and good wishes to the founding owners of Madan Bhandari Memorial College
for their praise-worthy initiatives to be the first affiliated college
of TU to launch Masters Degree program in Journalism and Mass Communication.
I am fully confident that given the necessary instructional facilities
and sincere dedication of the faculty members, we will be successful
in providing quality media education for the cause of promising students
in the country.

institution’s endeavor to meet the challenge of the media education
in our country.

Our Efforts
MBM College, a community college, is a well known educational institution
that is dedicated to quality education and social services. The young,
dynamic, result-oriented faculties, with proper instructions and guidance
of senior and experienced scholars, have been serving the college. While
talking about physical infrastructure, this college is going to be one
of the well-facilitated colleges in the country. A new building with
modern facilities is in ready-to-use form in Baneshwor (south of Anamnagar),
Kathmandu. The Computer lab is equipped with unlimited Internet service.
BA in Journalism and Mass Communication is one of the successful programs
of this college. Its products have now been shouldering journalistic
responsibilities in reputed media houses including BBC. Similarly, they
have been performing well in the fields of media research and media
education. These achievements have inspired us to launch Masters Degree
in Journalism and Mass Communication.
The college possesses a radio station named as Mero FM, a college based
community radio, which can be heard on 93.5 MHz in and around Kathmandu.
This radio has become a platform for students who want to sharpen their
knowledge and skills in the field of radio broadcasting. A good chunk
of students are now producing radio programs and they have been going
on air.
MBM College is providing Journalism and Mass Communication students
with plenty of platforms. Communication Study Center (CSC), an academic
wing of MBM College, is very much dedicated to such activities that
explore the potentials of students. Since last 4 years, CSC has been
facilitating Journalism and Mass Communication students to equip them
with knowledge and skills. It organizes different events such as interaction
program with media experts, film screening, news writing competition,
etc. In the same sequence, serial publications viz. MBM Media Newsletter,
MBM Anthology and wallpaper come under regular activities of CSC. The
main aim of CSC activities is to provide students with opportunities
that help them to be saleable in the media marketplace.
