BA at MBM College
Background
Tribhuvan University has launched a four-year Bachelor of Arts (BA) program under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences from the academic year 2076/077. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education.
The BA program at MBM College offers a diverse range of subjects, enabling students to study Compulsory English, Sociology, Major English, Social Work, and Mass Communication within a single academic stream. The total course carries 2,000 marks, distributed evenly across four years (500 marks per year).
Students are required to select two major subjects, each carrying 700 marks, and two elective subjects, each carrying 100 marks. In addition, the curriculum includes three compulsory subjects: English, Nepali, and Nepal Studies. Compulsory English accounts for 200 marks, while Nepali and Nepal Studies carry 100 marks each.
English is taught as a compulsory subject in the first and third years, whereas Nepali is compulsory in the second year. Nepal Studies is also included as a mandatory component of the curriculum, contributing to students’ understanding of national context and heritage.
Evaluation Criteria
Students will be assessed through a combination of external and internal evaluation methods. The external evaluation consists of a written examination carrying 70 marks for each subject. The remaining 30 marks are allocated to internal assessment, which includes components such as mini-projects, classroom presentations, and participation in teamwork-based activities.
Eligibility
To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Arts (BA) program, applicants must have secured at least a grade of D+ in all subjects in both Grade 11 and Grade 12. Alternatively, candidates who have successfully completed Intermediate, Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL), or 10+2 education in Humanities, Science, or Management streams from Tribhuvan University or from any other university or board recognized by it are also eligible to apply.
